Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how YARD ("YARD", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal data submitted through our website and our Recovery Assessment service. It reflects how the current YARD MVP operates and is intended to be reviewed by a solicitor prior to full marketplace launch.
1. Who we are
YARD is a UK-based business helping construction companies, merchants, manufacturers and suppliers recover value from surplus stock. For any privacy question, contact hello@yardtrade.co.uk.
2. What we collect
- Stock upload data — the file you upload (CSV / XLSX) and any accompanying company, contact and notes fields.
- Early Access registrations — name, company, email, phone (optional) and stated interest.
- Contact form submissions — name, company, email and message.
- Basic technical data — server logs (IP address, request timestamps) needed to operate the website securely.
3. Why we use it
- To prepare and deliver your Recovery Assessment.
- To respond to your enquiry or manage your Early Access registration.
- To notify you about the YARD marketplace launch.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
Our lawful bases are (a) performance of the service you've requested and (b) our legitimate interest in operating the YARD business and contacting registered users about it.
4. Confidentiality of uploaded stock
Uploaded stock lists are treated as commercially confidential. They are only accessed by the YARD Recovery Team for the purpose of preparing your Recovery Assessment. Nothing is listed, published or shared with any third party without your explicit prior approval.
5. How data is stored
Data is stored using reputable UK/EU cloud infrastructure providers engaged by YARD. Access is restricted to YARD personnel who need it to deliver the service. We do not sell your data.
6. Retention
Stock uploads and associated correspondence are retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to deliver the Recovery Assessment and any follow-up commercial discussion, and thereafter for a reasonable period to meet legal, accounting and business record-keeping requirements. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
7. Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@yardtrade.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
8. Cookies
The YARD website uses only the essential cookies required to operate the site securely. See our Cookie Policy for detail.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
